Auto Darkening Solar Welding Helmet

This is a great welding helmet. I got this for my husband for all of his welding projects. The Technical Parameters Light States: DIN 4 Dark States: DIN5-13 free adjustment View Area: 105 x 56 mm; 96 x 48 mm; 96 x 35 mm Response time (bright to dark): Weight 450 grams Life expectancy: 10 years. This helmet protects your eyes, face and neck from flash burn, ultraviolet light, sparks, infrared light, and heat. My husband loved how lightweight this helmet is. He also loves the adjustable settings for Auto Darkening Solar Welding Helmet Solar Powered with Permanent UV/IR Protection. This is not a high-end, high-priced welding helmet. However, it is affordable and may serve the moderate user well, considering that the auto-darkening feature is the biggest selling point - in my opinion. Durability of the materials and non-replaceable battery life are a major concern and it will take time to reveal how well they withstand the rigors of moderate use. For light to moderate use, or maybe as a backup, this welding helmet may prove useful. The helmet seems sturdy enough to take most, if not all of the punishment I'm likely to put it through at home and during some travel jobs. [+] The suspension system is made such that once the headband tension is set, it remains set without loosening over time. [+] Adequate adjustment points for a comfortable custom fit. [+] The sweatband is somewhat reasonable in quality and is secured with hook and loop material for easy removal. (SEE ADDITIONAL COMMENTS BELOW). [+] Reasonably sized viewing area. [+] Replaceable lens cover. [+] Adjustable shade auto-darkening filter. ON THE "MINUS" SIDE: ------------------------------- [-] The suspension system feels somewhat flimsy and may not withstand heavy usage. Time will tell. [-] The sweatband is made of a cheap material rather than a heavy terrycloth intended to absorb perspiration. The padding is there, but minimally so. Again, time will tell if it will last beyond a month of moderate use.
